Magic School Sorting Quiz

Four houses. One quiet test. Twenty questions sealed in wax — answer honestly and we'll send the letter that bears your house's crest.

About the four houses

Sorting quizzes have lived in fantasy fiction for a long time, but most of them recycle the same four archetypes from a single famous franchise. We wanted something different — four original houses with their own beasts, mottos and personalities, none of them mapped 1:1 to anyone else's.

Solorrin is the visible-action house. Verridel is patience-then-strike. Mortavia is the truth-seekers. Pyrrhal is the makers. None of them are the bad house. None of them are the obvious one. The quiz is honest — answer how you actually are, not how you'd like to be.

How the sort works

Twenty questions. Each question has four answers — one for each house. Pick the one that's most you, even if more than one feels close. At the end, the house with the highest score gets the letter; ties break by question 1 (your gut answer).

The questions cover everything the four houses care about: how you handle conflict, what you do alone, how you treat strangers, what you regret, what you'd protect. Don't optimise — answer fast.

Frequently asked questions

Is this from a famous fantasy series?
No. The four houses — Solorrin, Verridel, Mortavia, Pyrrhal — are original. We wrote them from scratch with their own beasts, mottos and personalities. If you've taken those other sorting quizzes, this one is meant to be a different read.
How accurate is it?
It's a 20-question quiz, not a personality test. The result will feel right when you answer fast and honestly — and a little off when you try to game it. Treat the letter as a mirror, not a verdict.
Can I get a tied result?
Internally yes, but the letter has to pick a single house. Ties break by your first answer — the snap one — which we treat as the most honest.
Can I share or save my acceptance letter?
Yes. There's a Copy button on the letter card and a Share button that uses your phone's native share sheet. The letter is also designed to screenshot well.
Will I get a different result if I take it again?
Sometimes. The questions are the same and the scoring is deterministic, so the same answers always give the same house. If your answers shift between attempts, the result will too.
Is anything saved or tracked?
Nothing. The whole quiz runs in your browser. No accounts, no logging, no tracking. Refresh the page and the result is gone.
